Recession – Comeback of the DIY Warrior
As the recession tightens its grip over the world, it brings about a revival in a favorite past time of days gone by, DIY. Do-It-Yourself used to be a fad often associated with dad who always wanted to do stuff in the house with his own two hands. Through sweltering heat and freezing weather it worked and the jobs got done. Sometimes taking longer than it should but, it always results in a piece or work you have to just love (or risk the wrath of your dad!).
In today’s cash strapped economy, more and more people are opting to do their home improvements by themselves as much as they could to save on labor costs and materials (in theory that is). It brings together the long forgotten muscle memories when you used to know how to saw wood and hit nails with a hammer (hopefully avoiding your fingers!). It brings together the family who do their part for the common good, as it should have always been. A time forgotten and replaced with our fast paced life and stresses.
Security Lights and Landscape Lighting
The most important kind of outdoor lights are security lights. They are typically mounted near doorways, garages or other dark areas around the house. Among all types of lights, halogen lamps are most effective for security lighting because it turns off and on without delay.
On the other hand, landscape lighting is a decorative and artistic kind of outdoor lighting that adds value or enjoyment to your home. It comes in many forms and creative styles. A typical suggestion is to put this type of lighting around plants, trees or other architectural elements of your home that you want to highlight.
Install Outdoor Lightings
When remodeling your house, you should also consider the installation of outdoor lightings. It does not only provide security for your house and your family, but it also enhances the aesthetic effect of your home. It is a fantastic way to illuminate your yard and give the illusion of a wider space. It also encourages family activities such as outdoor games and barbecues.
In planning for your outdoor lighting layout, you should incorporate different types of lights such as step lights, flood lights, landscape lights or decorative lanterns, and security lights. You should also plan for allowances or provisions for seasonal lightings (such as Christmas lights).
